Aft corner balcony — the wake view and the vibration

Carnival Celebration aft corner cabin 10520. The wake view is gorgeous and the corner position gives you a wider balcony with views in two directions. On our cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman the aft view was especially beautiful at sunrise. Now the honest part: there is engine vibration in aft cabins on this ship. It is a low hum, constant, present in the room and on the balcony. Some people will not notice. I noticed. It did not ruin anything but it was there. If you are vibration-sensitive, book mid-ship instead. The cabin is modern and well-designed with the Excel-class updates. The aft corner balcony is easily double the size of a standard balcony. Worth it if vibration does not bother you.

Oceanview with a partially blocked porthole — still fine

Full disclosure: cabin 9286 has a lifeboat partially blocking the porthole. You can see ocean through maybe sixty percent of the window. I knew this going in because I read the deck plans obsessively. The partial obstruction dropped the price to nearly interior-cabin levels, which is why I booked it. The sixty percent view still provides natural light all day and you can see enough ocean to feel connected to the outside. At night it does not matter at all. The cabin itself is well-maintained, quiet location in a cul-de-sac at the end of a corridor which means zero foot traffic. If you want natural light on a budget and do not mind a lifeboat in your peripheral vision, this is the move.

High deck forward — the wind is no joke

Deck 15 forward balcony. Let me be direct: you cannot use this balcony at sea. The wind at full speed is genuinely dangerous for loose items — our first day a book blew off the table and over the railing into the Atlantic. Anything not bolted down will leave. In port it's beautiful though. The height gives you incredible views pulling into every port. We watched the approach to St. Maarten from fifteen stories up and it was breathtaking. The cabin is newer-feeling than lower decks, probably renovated more recently. Good storage, comfortable bed. If you're a port-view person and don't care about sitting on the balcony at sea, this is perfect.

MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 14, Cabin 14088

Infinity balcony lives up to the hype

MSC Seashore's infinity balconies (no barrier between you and the sea, just a glass floor extension) are genuinely something special. 14088 has a wider balcony than most due to being at the end of the row — extra maybe 40cm but you feel it. The ship is beautiful, cabin is modern and white with good storage. AC works well. Only issue: the infinity balcony has a small lip that collects water when it rains and it takes a while to drain. Found a puddle our first morning. Not a dealbreaker. Maintenance fixed a small rattling hanger issue within 20 mins of reporting. Would recommend MSC Seashore for couples who want the balcony experience.
