MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 8, Cabin 8290

Standard balcony that just works — no drama

Sometimes you want a cabin review that says: it was fine. Cabin 8290 on MSC Seashore is a standard balcony that does everything it should. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom works. The balcony opens properly and has two chairs and a small table. The view is open ocean. The corridor is quiet. The steward was professional and friendly. The AC maintained temperature. The lights all functioned. The safe worked. The TV worked. The wifi from this position was actually quite good. Nothing went wrong. Nothing was exceptional. It was a perfectly competent cabin in which I slept well for seven nights. In a world of dramatic cruise reviews, I offer you this: Cabin 8290 is fine. And fine is wonderful.

High deck cabin with a pool deck view problem

Deck 15, cabin 15180. Beautiful cabin, modern finishes, the infinity balcony is wonderful. However, this cabin's balcony has a direct sightline to the pool deck on Deck 16, which means on sea days you are watching hundreds of people in swimwear from above like some kind of cruise ship surveillance operation. The noise from the pool reaches this deck easily. The DJ's music is clearly audible. On port days when the pool is less busy it is peaceful and lovely. My recommendation: if you want a high deck balcony on Seashore, go aft where the view is the wake, not forward where the view is the pool party. The cabin interior is excellent though — no complaints about the room itself.

The cabin with a view of the cruise terminal — worth it in port

Cabin 12150 on MSC Seashore faces starboard and at several ports, this meant we had a direct view of the cruise terminal and the city beyond. In Barcelona, we watched the entire port come alive from our balcony. In Marseille, we could see the Basilica on the hill. The ocean days the view is standard open water. The cabin is a typical MSC balcony, modern and functional. One thing I appreciate about MSC is the minibar comes pre-stocked with a couple of complimentary water bottles, which other lines charge for. The balcony furniture is slightly more elegant than the plastic chairs on American lines — actual cushioned seating. Small touches matter. The cabin was spotless throughout. No maintenance issues.

MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 9, Cabin 9078

MSC oceanview — the porthole that became our clock

We booked an oceanview on Deck 9 because I wanted natural light without the balcony price. What I did not expect was how much the porthole would become our daily rhythm-setter. We woke with the light, watched the weather through it before getting dressed, and ended every evening checking the stars through it. The porthole on MSC Seashore is larger than on older ships — almost the size of a small window. Cabin 9078 is in a quiet section with minimal corridor traffic. The room is standard MSC quality: modern, compact, functional. The one surprise was excellent water pressure in the shower — better than my hotel in Rome the week before. For Mediterranean cruises where you are off the ship most days, oceanview is the smart choice.

Port-side Deck 11 — the Mediterranean sunset position

If your MSC Seashore itinerary is in the Mediterranean heading south along the Italian coast, port-side cabins on Deck 11 get the sunset every single evening. Cabin 11310 had a perfect unobstructed view of the Amalfi coast at sunset on our second night and I have never taken more photos in my life. The cabin is a standard balcony with the MSC infinity concept — glass extension over the water. The room is well-maintained and modern. One issue specific to this cabin: the balcony divider between us and the next cabin has a small gap at the bottom that allows sound to travel. We could hear our neighbors' conversations clearly. Not a dealbreaker for us but worth noting for privacy-conscious travelers.

MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 16, Cabin 16044

MSC Yacht Club suite — worth every euro

The MSC Yacht Club is their ship-within-a-ship luxury concept and 16044 is one of the top suites. Private pool, private restaurant, private lounge, dedicated butler service. The suite itself is gorgeous: marble bathroom, king bed, walk-in closet, enormous balcony with a day bed. The butler (ours was named Alessandro) was phenomenal — he learned our preferences by day two and anticipated everything. Coffee appeared before we asked. Dinner reservations materialized for exactly the right time. The Yacht Club restaurant serves a different menu nightly and the quality rivals good restaurants on land. If you are considering MSC and want luxury, Yacht Club is the only way to sail. It transforms the experience from a cruise into a private yacht vacation.

MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 8, Cabin 8166

MSC interior — European efficiency at its finest

MSC Seashore interiors are designed with European sensibility, which means everything is compact and intentional. Cabin 8166 is small by American standards but uses space brilliantly. The bed folds into a couch configuration during the day. Storage is behind panels that click open — the whole room feels clean and minimal when everything is put away. The AC is powerful and quiet. One adjustment for American cruisers: the default mattress is firmer than what you might be used to. I loved it, my wife requested a topper on day two which was provided immediately. The bathroom has a proper rain shower which is a nice touch. No window of course, but the room lighting has a warm mode that prevents it feeling clinical. Solid choice for budget travelers.

MSC Cruises · MSC Seashore · Deck 10, Cabin 10202

MSC infinity balcony — the glass floor is thrilling

The infinity balcony concept on MSC Seashore is unlike anything on other cruise lines. The balcony is not a separate outdoor space — the entire wall opens and the floor extends as a glass panel over the ocean. You are standing inside your cabin looking directly down at the water through the floor. It is vertiginous and beautiful. Cabin 10202 is mid-ship with an unobstructed view. The glass floor section is about two feet wide, enough to stand on but not enough for a chair. We spent hours just standing there watching the water pass below us. The cabin itself is modern European design — clean lines, good storage, slightly smaller bathroom than American cruise lines but well-designed. MSC knows how to make a visual impact.

High deck balcony near the spa — strategic booking

I booked 15144 specifically because it is a thirty-second walk to the Cloud 9 Spa on Deck 16. I am a spa person. I went every single morning for the thermal suite before most guests were awake. The proximity made it effortless. The cabin itself is a standard balcony on a high deck, which means excellent views but some wind on the balcony. The height does produce a slight sway in rough weather that you do not feel on lower decks. The cabin was clean and modern. My one critique is that the hallway on Deck 15 near the spa entrance gets foot traffic starting early as other spa-goers head up, which means gentle corridor noise from about 7am. For a spa-focused cruise, this cabin location is perfect.

Carnival Cruise Line · Carnival Celebration · Deck 8, Cabin 8092

Accessible cabin review — Carnival does it right

My mother uses a wheelchair. Cabin 8092 is an accessible balcony cabin and Carnival has thought through the details. The doorways are wide enough for her chair. The bathroom has grab bars, a roll-in shower with a seat, and a lowered mirror. The balcony threshold is flush with the cabin floor, no lip to navigate. The closet has a lower hanging rod. The bed height is adjustable. These sound like small things but on other cruise lines we have struggled with at least two or three of these details. Celebration got them all right. The balcony is slightly larger than standard to accommodate a wheelchair, which means more space for everyone. Location near the elevator was ideal. Carnival, thank you for getting accessibility right.

Carnival Cruise Line · Carnival Celebration · Deck 12, Cabin 12180

Deck 12 mid-ship — the Goldilocks cabin

Not too high, not too low. Not too forward, not too aft. Not too close to the elevator, not too far. Cabin 12180 is the Goldilocks cabin on Carnival Celebration. It does nothing spectacularly but it does everything well. The view is clear, the noise is minimal, the motion is barely perceptible. The walk to the pool is reasonable. The walk to the dining room is reasonable. The cabin is standard but well-maintained. The bed is comfortable. The steward is attentive. I realize this review is boring. That is the point. Sometimes you do not want an adventure in your cabin. You want your cabin to be the unremarkable anchor that lets you enjoy everything else. Cabin 12180 is gloriously unremarkable. Five stars.

Carnival Cruise Line · Carnival Celebration · Deck 10, Cabin 10520

Aft corner balcony — the wake view and the vibration

Carnival Celebration aft corner cabin 10520. The wake view is gorgeous and the corner position gives you a wider balcony with views in two directions. On our cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman the aft view was especially beautiful at sunrise. Now the honest part: there is engine vibration in aft cabins on this ship. It is a low hum, constant, present in the room and on the balcony. Some people will not notice. I noticed. It did not ruin anything but it was there. If you are vibration-sensitive, book mid-ship instead. The cabin is modern and well-designed with the Excel-class updates. The aft corner balcony is easily double the size of a standard balcony. Worth it if vibration does not bother you.
