I blamed the cabin for my snoring

My wife has been telling me I snore for fifteen years. I have been denying it for fifteen years. On this cruise, in cabin 12088, the neighbor knocked on our wall at 2am. My wife answered the door and the man from next door said 'Is there a mechanical issue in your cabin? We can hear a very loud rhythmic noise through the wall.' My wife looked at me. She looked at the neighbor. She said 'Yes, it is a mechanical issue.' She closed the door. I was pretending to be asleep. I heard every word. The next day she told me the neighbor came by and I said 'Oh what did he want?' She said 'To tell us about a ventilation problem.' We both know the truth. I have since purchased those adhesive nose strips. They help. My wife has not mentioned the ventilation problem again.

We had a loud fight and the whole deck heard it

My husband and I had a spectacular argument on night three. About what? I genuinely cannot remember. Something about dinner reservations or shore excursions. The point is we were loud. We were on the balcony. Sound carries on water. I know this because the next morning at the buffet, the couple from two cabins down approached us and said, very gently, 'We just wanted to check you two are okay.' They had heard the entire thing. We were mortified. Then they said 'For what it is worth, we think you were right about the lobster.' I did not even remember discussing lobster. We apologized profusely. They became our dinner companions for the rest of the cruise. They are wonderful people. The argument is forgotten. The embarrassment is forever.

We used the connecting door to our advantage

My wife and I met another couple at the piano bar on night one. They were in the cabin next to ours, connected by one of those interior doors that are supposed to be locked. By night three we had become genuinely close friends. Night four, after an excessive amount of champagne, someone discovered the connecting door was unlocked. What followed was the most memorable evening of our fifteen-year marriage. We opened both balcony doors and created one giant cabin stretching across two balconies. We drank wine, told stories until 4am, and watched the sunrise together. When I say we connected with them I mean emotionally — we talked about things we'd never told anyone. We still vacation with them every year. That unlocked door changed our lives.

The couple next door made our anniversary memorable (in a weird way)

We were celebrating our 15th anniversary in this cabin. The couple next door apparently had the same idea. We could hear EVERYTHING through that connecting door — the one that looked like it led to a closet but definitely didn't. First night we were mortified. By day three we just... started timing our own romantic evenings around them for solidarity. We never met them. We saw their door from the hall exactly once and made prolonged awkward eye contact. 10/10 would not change a thing.
